I’m good enough

Do you think that you are not good enough because you have not yet found fame and fortune.  No matter what you do, you keep failing.  Well you are not alone.

Chris Gardener

Gardener’s story was chronicled in the 2006 movie “The Pursuit of Happyness” which starred Will Smith.  Eviction and homelessness, jail and an eventual divorce were some of the challenges Chris Gardener faced along his journey.

Morgan Freeman

He started acting at nine years old.  However, he did not appear in a movie until age 34 and landed his first major role at the age of 52.

Michael Jordan

Michael was passed up for the varsity basketball team and was placed on the junior varsity team instead.  This made him cry.  His mother encouraged him to press on and not give up.
I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career.  I’ve lost almost 300 games.  26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed.  I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life.  And that is why I succeed. – Michael Jordan

Steve Harvey

Homeless for three years.  He slept in his Ford Tempo car; washed up in sinks at gas stations or hotels.  He stole fuel to transport himself to comedy gigs.

Samuel L Jackson

He has appeared in countless films.  However, Samuel L Jackson didn’t get his first movie role until he was 46 years old.

Sidney Poitier

At his first audition for the American Negro Theatre, he messed up his lines and spoke in a heavy Bahamian accent.  This made the director angry, who subsequently told Poitier to stop wasting his time and go get a job as a dishwasher.

Tyler Perry

As a child, Perry attempted suicide in an effort to escape his father’s beatings.  At 10 years old, Tyler was molested by a friend’s mother.  Prior to this, Tyler was also molested by three men and subsequently learnt that his father had molested his friend.

The moral of the story – you are good enough

Never tell yourself that it is too late to change your life.  Never tell yourself you have missed your chance.
You are good enough.  Whatever you were born to do, you can still do it.  It’s your life, live it!
